Christmas Alert!

GAME-CHANGING GRANDMAS, may I have your attention please? THIS IS AN ACTUAL ALERT!

Have you heard? The last thing I want to do is add to anyone’s stress level, but I don’t want you in the dark if I can do anything about it, either. So, here’s the scoop. There is news out there that can add a whole new level of stress to our Christmas shopping this year—if we let it. I, for one, do not intend to let it and I want to help you ward it off, too!

As issue is the ominous news out there about the supply chain. The talking heads are now saying that if you haven’t begun shopping for Christmas, it’s already too late. Predictions are that you won’t be able to find the gifts on your list. Granted, that’s assuming you have already made a list, and this grandma has not. Whatever. I’m still here to say, no, no, and no! Don’t sign up for the holiday stress. Not now, not in a month from now. Do yourself a favor and say a big old no to that.

Here are a few creative ideas to get you thinking. They’re geared for the grands, but they can also be applied to the other loved ones on our list. Think experiences this Christmas:

With a quick search online search I just found a place near my Houston grandsons that offers trail rides for avid horse people and for horse newbies. I’m gifting the boys with a trail ride that includes a pass for a friend. A similar idea would be two tickets to a major league baseball game. You could always include a horse themed gift or sports gift in the box with the certificate or tickets before wrapping.

Along that same line, how about a spa day for that tween girl that includes a facial? Again, include a friend in the certificate. Or here’s an idea, include her mother and cross two gifts off your list at the same time!

Consider subscription boxes. There are a lot of advantages to a subscription box. For me, one of the biggest is knowing the grands will get regular happiness delivered to their doorstep from Keggie! Right now, we can also feel good about the fact that the people who are offering gift boxes have done much of the leg work. They’ve scoured for the products they include in their boxes for us! Here’s a list of subscription box ideas to get you started: https://www.rd.com/list/best-subscription-boxes/

I hope these ideas will get your creative juices flowing! The main thing for all of us is to commit to keeping Christ at the center of Christmas and determine not to let the shopping countdown take us down with it.

Hugs, Shellie
