Trendy Shoes in 2023
Okay, friends, I’ve written too many articles on sneakers in the last few years, but I’m happy to report they are still fashionable.
I just wore a pair of sneakers with a cotton dress from Anthropologie to my granddaughter’s graduation and, boy, was I happy as I climbed the stairs in the coliseum. Trust me, I debated about “good sense” versus “I’m the grandma, should I be wearing sneakers?” and the “good sense” won out. (See family pic with me in the sneakers.)
In fact, my twenty-three-year-old granddaughter, in her trendy high heels, said she was jealous of my decision to go comfy. So, you’ll probably catch me at some other events besides a ballgame in my sneakers and I’ll be so glad I have them on.
So, what else is trending for 2023?
First, let’s look at what is not trending. It seems round toe shoes, open toe pumps, cone heel pumps, Oxfords, and Huarache sandals. Most of that list I don’t have, so I’m doing pretty good.
What is trending?
Here we go and the good news is, it’s a pretty long list so it’s hard to go wrong. High heels, if you’re willing to risk your feet and safety, are in. Wedges are also back and easier to wear than a heel. On the “good to know” and “easy to wear” list is ballet flats. Just beware that you might not have much support in a ballet flat, but they are better on the feet than a heel. Both pointed toe and square toed shoes are in, and the chunky heel is back in style. Another good one for us “more mature” fashionistas.
I’m not a huge fan personally, but kitten heels are very fashionable for spring. However, I do like pumps and pumps rarely go out of style, so you can pull your pumps back out and wear them another year. But remember, stay away from round toes. Espadrilles are in for spring and a platform espadrille, all the better!
If you like to rock your cowboy boots, you’re in luck because they are still in style, even if you’re not in Texas. Also, you’ll probably see them and some of you might wear them, but crocs are out of favor, if you’re fashion conscience at all. But, hey, if you spend your summer at camp, like I do, get those crocs out!
For the most part, beautiful shoes are back in fashion. Pretty strappy sandals, flat, or with a heel, are in style. And platform sandals will be seen everywhere.
As always, personal taste must rule. Wear what’s comfortable for you and you’ll always be stylish. Happy feet make for a happy heart!
