Does your mind wander?

Hey RIG fam! I’ve got a super short read for you today and it feels mighty appropriate for it to be brief. Why? Because I’m sending this one out to all my fellow squirrel brain people. I get you. I often warn my audiences when I’m speaking that my particular communication style means I have a habit of digressing from my digression. Anybody else? I see you raising your hand so before I lose your attention, I’ll get right to my point.

Does your mind wander when you set out to pray? Please don’t let that discourage you from seeking the Lord and experiencing the most fulfilling relationship of your life. Besides, our families need us to intercede for them! For years I let my wandering mind defeat me in prayer, until the Lord taught me a simple but valuable lesson about praying. I rely on this one daily, and I’m not even joking. I’ve shared this on my personal socials before, but I don’t know that I’ve ever shared it here, so lean in for some encouragement.

The fact that your mind wanders in prayer does not disqualify you from praying, my friend, because it was never your ability to focus that qualified you in the first place! It was and it is Jesus, the Door, who is our forever access. It is through Christ alone that we approach Father God. So, do this with me. When you’re in prayer and your mind wanders, just simply bring it back. Don’t give up in frustration. Don’t let the enemy of your soul tell you that you can’t develop a healthy prayer life. Just bring your mind back, right where you were before it wandered, and keep praying. And if you’re like me, bring it back, and back, and back again. He is worthy, and His company is oh, so worth it! Later, friends!

If you can relate, drop a comment below and I’ll pray for you. No pun intended.

Hugs,
Shellie
