What are you going to do this summer?

I love new beginnings and we all know God is a God of fresh starts and new mornings, don’t we? I love that God doesn’t box us into what we “used to be.” God loves a good make-over story because He offers us the opportunity to “make over” every day.

Scripture tells us, “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” – Lamentations 3:22-23

What a blessing that opportunity is! Just the fact that God looks at us a new creature every morning should be enough to wet even the wettest wood and get a fire going in us.

So, today, I want to challenge all of us, including me, to think about where I want to be by the end of this summer. I get it, summer isn’t like it used to be when we were kids. Then it was all about no school, free time, getting darker skin and blonder hair, running the streets of the neighborhood until dark, and swimming until our fingers crinkled. But summer was also a time for growth in one way or the other. It seemed like we went back to school a new person, a little older, wiser, more grown up.  That might not have been true, but it seemed that way. And, as we looked around at our classmates, they had changed in some way too. They had “grown up” over the summer. Three months doesn’t seem that long, yet it makes such a difference.

So, that’s it! We would love to see some comments. What are you going to learn, do, explore, grow in, participate in, enjoy, or celebrate this summer that will change you for the better?

No matter what age you are, don’t stop growing!

Hugs, Chrys
