Tightening the stitches of our faith
The chill is in the air and, as it’s definitely sweater weather. I wore one the other day. It was soft and comfy. I loved it. Then, I walked outside. My soft and comfy sweater was anything but warm. Wait! Isn’t that the job of a sweater to be warm? What was happening? It turns out the wool was so loosely woven that it allowed the cold air in. Little, unassuming bits of cold air was allowed in my cozy space.
Our faith is often like a loosely woven sweater. It looks like it’s doing the job, but it’s not. If that’s the case, perhaps the weave is too loose. Perhaps it’s time to “tighten the stitches” and reduce the number of holes. Holes in our faith allow for sinful behaviors and bad attitudes to sneak in.
It’s almost a new year. 2025 will bring joys and challenges. Let’s be ready for both by tightening the stitches of our faith. Have a great week!
Hugs, Chrys
