Spring Is In The Air

Yes, it is! And we couldn’t be happier. I know. We live in the south. It’s not like we’ve endured six months of ice and snow, but still! We are ready for some warm weather. How about you? My youngest daughter has a birthday on March 1. Yep. Every year. So, that is, generally, my first look at spring fashions. I love seeing what’s what for a new year. The older I get, the more I love seeing old fashions become new again and the past being revived. This year is no different. This spring, look for 1970’s baby doll clothes in shirts and dresses. I know, it’s a little bit of a YIKES moment because women our age shouldn’t wear baby doll clothes but it’s okay, there is still plenty of “new” looks for us women with a few years on us. Right next to the 1970’s look is the 1990’s reimagined oversized jackets and slacks. And, not to be left out, there’s a little of the 1980’s big pop of color. In fact, the first store I went in, I was little hit with PINK. Pink, pink, and more, pink! And not the soft pink at a sweet baby shower. It was bright PINK!

As you can tell, fashion in the 2020’s is hanging out in the past and bringing all the good things out. So, here’s my list of five trends to shop for:

Maxi dresses are back! Yes, this is great news for those of us who are covering up a bit more these days. Fun, full skirts on maxi dresses are the perfect way to jump into spring but stay covered. Miniskirts. What? Yes, they are back, but not for everyone. I get it. They aren’t for me, but those of you with gorgeous legs might want to go for it, if the skirt isn’t too short. Platform shoes and sneakers are both sticking around this season. I’m still loving the sneaker trend; the platforms are a plus for special occasions for me.
