Let’s Talk Fall, Y’all!

The arrival of fall means harvest on our farm with all the sights and smells that come with it. And while I love the practice of thanksgiving all year around, fall also signals a special season of gratitude. For these reasons and more I’m always eager to decorate! In the spirit of giving, I offer you a few of my decorating tips:

~To enjoy dressing your home for the new season, stay in the moment and give yourself time to enjoy the experience. It helps me to brew a cup of coffee or tea and purposefully pace myself until I begin to breathe slower and I find myself truly enjoying the process.

~ Be willing to “fiddle and piddle. Sometimes a tablescape or mantel that wasn’t gelling will come together suddenly with a few more minutes and a little extra attention.

~To keep things fresh, use the colors speaking to you! I’ve noticed I’m no longer drawn to my traditional pumpkins in shades or orange. That doesn’t mean I won’t ever use them, but right now, I’m fond of whites, greens, glass, and golds for autumn! Take this serving piece from Crate and Barrel. That white pumpkin is going to look fabulous holding my vegetable beef soup. It makes me hungry just thinking about it! Here’s a link to the pumpkin piece and the soup!
