Holiday Snackin Crackers

One of the Tomlinson family’s holiday favorites is Holiday Snackin’ Crackers! I start making them in the fall and we serve them right through to New Year’s. (It becomes important to slow down after the holidays if I want to hold the muffin top at bay!) This recipe takes regular old saltine crackers and turns them into a holiday favorite. Warning: Making ’em is simple– keeping ’em hid from the family long enough to soak up the seasonings is where the real challenge lies! Good luck with that!

Holiday Snackin’ Crackers

Ingredients:

1 Box of saltine crackers
2 Cups Canola Oil
1 package Ranch dressing mix
1 tablespoon red pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder

Combine canola oil with Ranch dressing mix, red pepper, and garlic powder. Stir well and pour over a whole carton of regular saltine crackers that you’ve placed in a good-sized plastic bowl. Using your hands or a large spoon, turn the crackers several times to help make sure that the coating reaches them all, and you’re done! Make sure you cover the bowl with a lid that fits real snuggly because you’re gonna want to turn it occasionally while the crackers are absorbing the seasoned oil. This also works well with a plastic bag, just be careful not to break the crackers.

Snackin’ Crackers take about a day to a day and a half to soak up the seasonings but they are definitely worth the wait. You’ll know your crackers are ready when they’ve absorbed all the oil.

Hugs, Shellie
