Help Me Pick My Dress!

We have a wedding in June!! Yes, it’s super exciting, but it’s time to find a dress. In fact, I’m a little late to this party, so to speak. I’ve had a hard time because the wedding is in June and outside, which means it will be hot. Not a question. We live in Louisiana. The best we can hope for it less-hot, which is still hot. So, I don’t want anything that will stick to me.

But, I have a dilemma. I’m just going to confess it–my upper arms are not aging well. They just aren’t. I have the crepey-skin thing happening. Not creepy, which it is a little creepy, but crepey. As in crepe paper, I suppose. Although crepe paper does have some merit at a party, crepe arms, not so much.
I’m thin and have always been thin. You would think that would work in my favor, but no, it doesn’t. My skin hangs on my arms like fabric draping on a pole. Okay, it’s not that bad, but close. I’m sure you’ve seen the ads for creams and lotions to cure or lesson crepey skin. Well, I did too and have invested in a few, only to discover, nothing can undo what aging has done. That’s the reality of life. So, I’m left with covering them up.

I know there will be a number of you who will say don’t apologize for your arms. Just let them have their day in the sun. I get that. I’m not body shaming myself or anyone else. But, for me, I will just feel better if they are not flapping in whatever breeze we might be blessed to get in June. So, the hunt is on for flattening dresses with a sleeve for a June wedding.

Our sweet Sadie got married in November in 2019. Since her wedding was basically winter or fall, finding a sleeve was fairly easy, but this summer wedding things is harder.

I have three options I would love to show you and get your opinion.

Option No. 1 has a cold shoulder. If you don’t know what a cold shoulder is, it’s that peek-a-boo look, leaving the shoulder exposed for a little coolness. I love this idea because it would cover the said crepey skin, but look cool and refreshing.

Option No. 2 is a full short sleeve, but still has the flowy look that I’m looking for. This, of course, would give the best coverage, so it’s a good option.

Option No. 3 is long sleeve but flowy. I do like this as well, but still have some concerns about the heat and the sleeves sticking to me. But, going to give it a try.

Here’s the good news. All of these dresses are on a website called lulus.com. They range from $68.00 to $108.00 and they are quick with exchanges and refunds. I have already done several and had no problem. I ordered a super cute dress for a bridal tea coming up. I’ll take a pic and show you after the party. So, I’ve ordered all of these dresses and will send back what doesn’t work. Almost as easy as going to the mall for a few hours. Okay, it’s easier.
Thanks, everyone, for helping me pick a dress. I’ll get back to you will the results.

Hugs, Chrys
