God Does The Impossible
Have you ever done the impossible? I climbed a 14,000 foot mountain–twice, actually. I knitted a baby blanket for a friend, yet I don’t know how to knit. I once made a shot in tennis that I declared impossible.
But, in reality, all the things I thought were impossible, were possible. They were hard, but not impossible. Other people can do them and do so every day.
Impossible is bringing a dead man to life. Impossible is turning water to wine. Impossible is giving sight to blind man.
And, it was impossible for Jesus to stay in the grave. Impossible. Do you get it? It wasn’t impossible for Jesus to raise from the dead, it was impossible for Jesus not to.
Now, another question. Have you ever done something it seemed impossible to not do? When I think in those terms, my thoughts always turn to my children. It was impossible to not get up and feed a crying baby, no matter how exhausted I was. It was something I had to do. Couldn’t keep from doing it. It was impossible to not tend to a sick child, even if I was sick myself. I remember a time when everyone one in the house was sick with a stomach virus, but this mom was still tending to my kids, cleaning up after them, giving them sprite to drink, taking their temperature. In my mind and heart, I had to do it.
When I think of it that way, I kind of, sort of, get it. Acts 2:24 tells us “But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him” God raised Jesus from the dead because He was thinking about us, His children. He did what seemed impossible, but it was made possible, out of His love and sacrifice for you and me.
God, because of His love for us, knew there was no other way. It was impossible for Him to NOT let Jesus pay our debt. Rest in that this week and know that God loves very much.
