Denim
“What goes around, comes around” is never more true than in a conversation about fashion. Can I get an Amen? How many times have I declared I will NOT wear a certain fashion trend again, only to find myself giving in and buying it two months into the season???? (Case in point, mom jeans!! High-waisted jeans are back and I own a few pairs!)
So, what is the trend in fall 2020 that I didn’t see coming back in style? It’s really quite simple and one you might not have realized ever went out of style, but it did. It’s none other than a denim skirt. Yes, that’s right. It’s back. Okay, you might be one of those who never knew it went anywhere, but it did. In fact, you might have one hanging in your closet, but it really wasn’t “in style” for, probably, the last ten years. If you do have one hanging in your closet, good for you. You’ve won the “I’ll-hang-on-to-it-until-it-comes-back-in-style” award! Oh, if I had a dollar for everything I gave away thinking it will never return to fashion glory again, I would be rich!
As with all fashion that comes back around, it has to have a little twist to be considered new, so here’s the twist on the jean skirt. Knee length (I know, who would have thought) is actually a trend now. Other lengths are in as well, but praise God, it’s nice to have something modest and trendy, right? This one, by Free People, is long and adorable. The cost is $98.00 which isn’t too bad considering it can be worn a million ways for different looks. I also found this longer denim skirt on the GAP website on sale for $47.99. Here’s the LINK!
I love how the model is wearing this skirt with sneakers or tennis shoes. That alone lets me know the versatility of denim is still there. Boots, booties, tennis shoes, or flats can all be worn with a denim skirt and keep you “rocking” your grandma style. Of course, anything with a sweater is better, so I’ve put my denim skirt with a sweater and boots from last season and I’m ready for some fall weather.
Unfortunately, it’s not quite time for fall weather in Louisiana, but it will be here soon. In the meantime, this same denim skirt can go with any t-skirt and sandals. Wait, why did a denim skirt ever go out of style?? Fashion is confusing, isn’t it? lol
