Apache Bread

Let the record show, this is not my recipe. We’ve made it for a hundred years around here, so I have zero idea who to credit here. Nor do I know why we call it Apache Bread. What matters is that the eating is stellar! Here, I’ll show you how to stir it up.

Ingredients:

1 9-inch round loaf of bread (any round, loaf)

16 oz grated sharp cheddar cheese

8 oz cream cheese, softened

8 oz dairy sour cream

1 bunch chopped green onions

1-2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

2 (4.5 oz) cans chopped green chilies

1 cup chopped cooked ham

Dash of hot sauce

Directions:

Prepare your bread bowl by slicing off the top and scooping out the inside. (Hold onto that top. Oh, and leave enough bread in the shell to hold its form. A half-inch should do it.)

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Fill the hollow bread and replace the top you sliced off earlier. Place on a cookie sheet and bake uncovered for about an hour at 350 degrees. We like to use the bread for dipping, and we like to use chips for dipping. Ok, you’re right. Basically, we’re just fans of the dipping. Enjoy!

Hugs,
Shellie
