All Fired Up Cheese Krispies
Most every southern cook has a favorite cheese straw recipe. Here’s mine, only it incorporates Rice Krispies cereal for some serious crunch. These keep really well in a cookie tin. Be the hostess with the mostest and share ’em with your drop in guests along with a hot cup of coffee!
All Fired Up Cheese Krispies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1/2 pound sharp cheddar cheese grated
2 cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Dash of salt
Dash of red pepper
Dash of Panola hot sauce
2 cups Rice Krispies
Mix softened butter with grated sharp cheddar cheese and self-rising flour. Add garlic powder and a dash of salt and pepper. Fire ’em up with a nice dash of hot sauce and stir in the rice krispies.
Take by large tablespoons and roll in balls, flattening the balls on an ungreased cookie sheet. Using a fork, make a criss-cross design in the top and bake in a 350 degree oven for about fifteen minutes.
Why must I love cheese…and bread…and cheesy bread? ~Unknown
