A Wednesday Word
Let’s talk about dependability. It’s not a flashy word, and it can feel like an ancient idea in 2024, but it’s a valuable character trait our kids and grandkids need to succeed in life, and it must be modeled for them. Like every other important lesson, they need to see it demonstrated in our lives to understand why being dependable matters in theirs. Being a dependable person will follow our children right into their futures. Their educations, their jobs, and their relationships will benefit if they can be counted on and suffer if they can’t.
So, if we say we’ll be there, let’s go. If we commit to bringing something, let’s bring it. If we sign up, let’s show up. Do unexpected situations come up in all of our lives that prevent us from following through on our commitments? Absolutely! But those should be exceptions to how we live, not the norm.
Let’s lead the way for those coming after us. Let’s live by our word and not our whims. They may not say it, but they’ll see it! Hugs, Shellie (Pic from early July when I got all the grand together for the 8th annual Pops and Keggie Kamp)
