Discover How Living for God’s Glory Turns Out to Our Good!
I wrote an open letter to my farming friends this morning. It was meant to encourage us in this 2022 harvesting season. But I’ve since decided it could be helpful for you, too, even if you aren’t in the agricultural community, A wise person who once observed that “We’re either at the beginning of a trial, coming out of one, or going into one.” With that thought in mind, here’s a peak into our world.
An Open Letter to My Farming Friends:
This farm wife gets it. I know it’s hard to wait out this type of weather pattern while looking at the harvest standing in the field. I understand the concern over ripe grain and how sorely we need the water to drain off and the sun to begin shining once the inches quit mounting, to keep our crops from standing in dangerously damp conditions.
Days ago, as this rain was setting in, I was praying protection over all of our crops, yours and ours, and beseeching Almighty God to intervene and cancel the forecast the weather channel was predicting. I was about to share that prayer with you alongside a pic of the rain falling when God stirred a memory for me.
Weeks ago I had sat in this very same spot celebrating His merciful relief from the drought. I even made a dancing Pooh Bear reel to document the moment. Many of you cheered with me and Pooh over the falling rain— and many of you were still needing it to pour from the heavens above you. I couldn’t post when that memory returned because I’ve been turning over both pictures in my mind for days now (see insets) and here’s what I want to say.
Infinitely more encouraging than my understanding your concern right now is this precious truth: Your Father knows how your peace is being assaulted. HE sees.
He knows we can rest it with Him one minute and take it back to worry over the next. You are not being judged for that!!! Run back again!
Do I understand all of His purposes in times of trouble? Absolutely not. But I know trials can turn out to His glory and our good because His Word tells me so.
When we give Him praise and determine to keep resorting to Him in trials, when we insist on remembering His past faithfulness to find courage in present straits, He gets the glory. And us? We get the good because our joy is so intricately woven with His glory that they can’t be separated.
I am praying for you. May the peace that passes all understanding stand guard over your heart and mind today! Selah!
Hugs,
Shellie
