Homemade Recipe for Not Losing Your Ever-Loving Mind During Corona Crazy
Variations of this recipe have been in my family for as long as I can remember but it’s been a real lifesaver for me lately, so I wanted to share it with you, dear Rockstars. It’s not a complicated process. You can even play around with the first two ingredients. For instance, it’s perfectly fine to substitute a favored hobby for a new activity. And if you’re not an easy laugh, it’s okay to go lighter on the humor. But, under no conditions, can you afford to run out of the last component. Whatever you do, keep your faith well-stocked by repeated trips to God’s Word and regular prayer times and you’ll never be far away from whipping up some of this soul-satisfying goodness. Here, I’ll walk you through it.
Ingredients:
1 new activity
1 sense of humor
Generous amounts of Faith
Begin with one new activity. For me, this is currently bread-making. I’ve never been known to make my own bread because…grocery stores. My middle sister, however, is a break maker extraordinaire and she has been walking me through this process. And by walking me through it I mean helping me learn to speak sourdough. I’m currently at the punching stage. No, not people, y’all! Bread. (Someone’s been cooped up too long.) I’m supposed to punch the bread tonight and again tomorrow. The learning curve here has not been without incident and effort. I started this whole thing a week ago and IF all goes well, we’ll have honest to goodness homemade sourdough bread in 48 hours. You can read more about the first stage of my breadmaking at my website, belleofallthingssouthern.com.
Step two. You’ll want to take your new activity and mix in some humor. Again, this step is flexible. It’s wonderful if other people laugh with you, but be prepared, they may laugh at you instead. I consider it a win either way because their hearts are lighter and one of my mottos is #lifeisbetterwhenyourelaughing.
As I mentioned earlier, our last step is the most crucial. Take your new activity, and your humor bone, and stir in large amounts of Faith. You can’t over do it here. I once heard it said that someone could be so heavenly minded they were no earthly good, but I’ve yet to find anyone that came close to proving that theory. On the contrary, the people I know with the strongest connection to heaven are the ones that help me the most on earth!
This is one of those recipes that will get easy the more familiar you become with it, so practice, practice, practice. Enjoy your recipe, Rockstars, and you’ll enjoy your life, Corona or no Corona!
