Happy Feet
How happy are you about the tennis shoe or sneaker craze and how scared are you it will end??? For me, I’m over the top thrilled about it and live in fear it will die out while I’m still “young” enough to stuff my feet into heels again.
Of course, I realize no one forces fashion changes on me. The fashion police have yet to show up at my house. Still, I am one of those people who likes to jump on the trend train. Who would have thought, in my mid-sixties, trends would still be a thing I think about? Not worry, mind you, but I do think about them and enjoy trying them out.
So, here’s what I have for you. Let’s enjoy this fashion trend while we can. Above all things, this aging fashionista is practical with a capital P and sneakers are the most practical shoe (or shoes) in your closet. I admit when I first saw a cute twenty-something in a flowy skirt and a pair of sneakers, I said to myself, “What? Surely, she’s got her “real” shoes in her bag!” But no, she was completely dressed and well put together with a cute pair of sneakers and some very happy feet. Then I said to myself, “This trend might be for young.” But, wrong again, we (us rocking grandmas) are the perfect age for a cute pair of sneakers. After all, who chases after those grands all day??? US! We NEED this trend! So, I’ve come to accept the fact that sneakers can be worn with jeans, long skirts, short skirts, jumpers, anything, except a formal. And, if it’s long enough, you could even do that.
Now, these aren’t your mama’s tennis shoes; they are a step up, but they’re still comfy and everything we love a sneaker for. I’m going to revise that last statement. Some of them are your mama’s sneakers. Take a look at a classic white sneaker, like this Adidas pair. If you’re new to the trend, you’ll feel comfortable and very fashionable, but still not too over the top.
Then, branch out to the sneakers that are a little more trendy, like these cute converses. Here’s the LINK
Don’t want to invest much? Me either. Target has some great finds and you don’t have to take out a loan to make your grandkids take notice. (They might even want to share.) Seriously, for $30.00, you can’t be rocking some super cool sneakers. Here’s the LINK to several Target goodies!
Hopes this starts you on your sneaker journey. From what I can see, we’ve got them for at least another year. Woohoo!!!
